An update for what's been going on with me for the first 3 months of the year
Ok well, as usual, not anything too exciting really happens to me during the first month in the year, really. The only real good thing about January is that if you look outside at 5pm, everyday from the 1st day to the last day of January, you'll notice days getting gradually lighter outside. Once again, I started out the beginning of the year with another infection, except this time it was an infection I never thought I would ever get. Basically, the whole lower left side of my gums had gotten really sore, and it hurt so bad it was practically throbbing pain. And I would try to rub it, to subside the pain. But then on a Monday night, the pain moved into my 2nd tooth near the back of my mouth on the lower left side of my mouth. I couldn't even chew anything crunchy, because it would really hurt and I thought maybe the filling broke or fell out or something like that. And then when I woke up the next morning, the whole left side of my mouth was swollen due to infection. And the only thing I could think of doing was going to my doctor to get antibiotics, which she prescribed me to take for 10 days. Thankfully the infection went away, and I had to end up calling my Dentist, Dr. Wade, let him know that the left side of my mouth got infected. So he had me come in and he tried to fix the filling in that one tooth. For a while it did work. And it might have seemed a little sore after I came to see him for a week, and then my tooth didn't hurt anymore after that, although that was short lived unfortunately.
In February, I got to see Temple Grandin do a public talking on people who are on the autism spectrum and getting a job. And I got to see what she all had to say about it. While we were there, there was this booth that involved working with people on the autism spectrum in the fields of photography and videography, which is something that's definitely up my ally. I think they help people on the spectrum get jobs in that area, which is something I'm interested in, and so I still have yet to hear from them.
Anyways, for Valentine's Day this year, I got to live my Valentine's Day fantasy where Jason and I went over night on what was supposed to be a romantic getaway to the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. Although I enjoy going on the rides that are there, the real highlight of the indoor water park this year, was the outdoor spa, and how they had a swim up bar, that was also part of an adult spa. And I have to say that the cold weather outside contrasted very well with the temperature of the water that was in the hot tub/spa.
As for what happened a month earlier with the oral infection in my mouth, unfortunately, the infection came back. But this time it didn't hurt as much as it did the first time around, and it was just in this one specific area right by that same tooth that my Dentist had to work on. I know I might have tried to wait it out hoping it would go away, but when I saw what it looked like in the mirror, the gum tissue around that same tooth had really bubbled up. And I was worried about it. So I finally was like, "Ok, I've let it go and let it go, but I can't let it go, anymore. I need to call the dentist's office and let them know what's been going on lately. So in the last week of February, they had me come into take a look at it. What I was kind of hoping the dentist would want to do was drain that big huge bubble in my gum tissue, since it wasn't going away. But he wanted to pull my tooth out, all because my insurance wouldn't cover me getting a root canal, and at the same time, it would have been too expensive for me to just write them a check. So of course I was really in a panic and really upset about it. However, the dentist did ask me if I would like to try and save it because he could always write me a referral to have a root canal done in Milwaukee, WI, at Marquette schooling of Dentistry for a cheaper price. So I agreed to that. And I have to say, I'm glad that I started going to Wade Family Dentistry, when I did. Why? Because:
1. They take my insurance
2. They do a lot more and have done a lot more for me, than any other dentist I've been to in the past, after I graduated high school.
3. If you need some kind of dental procedure done (that my insurance will cover), besides just a routine cleaning, they'll tell you and have you come set up an appointment with them, so the procedure can be done. But that's the way it should be, regardless of what your insurance maybe, because everyone I think, deserves the same proper treatment, and shouldn't be turned away, because they have to be on some special insurance, just because they're disabled in some way.
4. Their services there, are much better, and they do a much better job, than one of the last places I went to.
5. People who work there, are nice and polite, especially if you're nervous about being there, because afterwards, you always feel a lot better than you did when you first came in.
6. They also have connections with Marquette schooling of dentistry, and I think some of their other patients may have gotten referrals to go to Marquette schooling of Dentistry, if maybe they needed something done that their insurance wouldn't cover and it would have been too expensive for them to just pay for it out of their pockets at Wade Family Dentistry.
My only regret is that I should have started going there a lot sooner, like when I first graduated from high school and got the insurance I have now.I also wish I had taken my oral hygiene a little bit more seriously, as well.
So anyways, the day after I went to Wade Family dentistry regarding my infection and picked up antibiotics he prescribed me to get rid of my infection, I got a call from them. I guess Marquette was very quick to respond when they contacted them. Because the next day, Wade Family Dentistry called me, and gave me the number to call Marquette, to make an appointment to see them. And I know my mom and I were just so sure they were going to pull out that one tooth. And I'll admit that I was expecting the worst, but hoping for the best. Then on a Friday, I came in to Marquette, filled out some paper work. They had me go up to Endo-dontics area. And this young woman who is a student there from Venezuella, (however you spell that) had me come in. Originally they were going to just do a screening on my teeth, and then get approval from the state to do the root canal on my one tooth. But since I had that infection down in my mouth, they went ahead and did an emergency root canal, and drained out the infection in my gum tissue, which is what I wanted to have done anyway. I have to say, that the last 3 or 4 times now, when I've ever gone in for dental work where Novacain needed to be applied, I've noticed that stuff either tasted minty, or fruity like, orange, water melon, grape, green apple, or banana flavored. Delicious! LOL! But I think that's far better than what it could have tasted like, I mean, do we really want dentists, and oral surgeons putting that stuff in our mouth to numb us, and have that stuff taste, nasty? I don't think so. It's better to have them use Novacain that tastes fruity or sweet, than have it taste disgusting. So anyways, they did the root canal on me, on the last day of February. And it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
So in summary for February, I got to see Temple Grandin, I got to go with my boyfriend to the Dells for what was supposed to be a romantic getaway, because it was Valentine's Day, and I had my first root canal done.
For March, there's 2 or 3 things that I always consider a highlight for that month. 1. Daylight Saving's Time begins. 2. the weather gets warm enough for the snow to start melting away, and the snow that comes down turns into rain, and 3. the Shamrock Shakes at McDonalds, although they actually start having those in the 2nd half of February.
My boyfriend and I also celebrated his birthday by having dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings. And it was all on me. I bought us dinner for his birthday, and I also bought him the Kung Fu Panda movies on DVD, and a birthday card. I would have wanted to make him some ice cream or buy him a cake, but oh well. There will be other chances to spoil him rotten.
Cheers to you, my cuddle, bear! Btw, I thought my drink was pretty, but really didn't feel like getting too drunk, that night, so I just got a non alcoholic Margarita.
This was our boneless chicken wings we had for dinner. They were good.
And here we are together, for a picture of us, for my cuddle bear's birthday. Love ya, cuddles. xoxoxo
Not much else has happened, really. The temperatures for the month of March have been yo-yo-ing up and down, but still at a temperature where it's just too damn cold. For St.Patty's day, I bought some attire for the occasion, because I thought it would be funny.
My boyfriend moved up to Phillips, WI, temporarily, hopefully. So I'll now be seeing him every other weekend. In the last week of March, I got a call from Marquette, letting me know that the State has approved my getting a root canal, and in the last week of March, I got to use my Dad's car, do some shopping at Wal Mart, as well as go back to Marquette to possibly get what might have been the last part of my root canal done. Then after got done in Milwaukee with that, we had to go all the way back home, and we had to take one of our dogs to the vet because my mom and the vet were under suspicion that our little rat terrier might have diabetes. The next day the vet called to confirm our suspicion. No more people food for this little guy. But now, my mom has to learn how to inject him with insulin. Poor little guy. :(
Now, isn't this a good picture of the little old man just looking out the window, or what?
For the last week of March, I bought some stuff for my boyfriend's Easter Basket, and some stuff for dying Easter Eggs. But that's because I decided to have a get together with some of my friends, where we'll color eggs. Doesn't that sound like fun? Anyways, during the last weekend, I went with my mom down to Fontana, WI, to the Abbey Resort for the Women's ARC Luncheon. I still think I'd like to have my wedding reception there, if I get married. Anyways, this year's theme was "Come Fly a Kite with Me". I won the center piece and I also won one of the things I put raffle tickets in, which was a basket of these puddings and gelatins, and some dessert bowls for making parfaits, later down the road. This maybe useful if I want to make stuff in the future like, parfaits, pudding, jello, and stuff like that. Or if anything else, I can always use them for when I want to have some ice cream.
Anyways, the next night after the Women's ARC luncheon, my mom and I ended up watching the Disney Movie, Frozen on Pay Per View. After watching that movie, I definitely think I want to get it on DVD. It was a good movie. ;) And then finally for the last day of March, temperatures got up into the mid 60's, and it felt really nice outside, enough to go ride bikes, which I did. I just wish that type of weather could last. At least it was probably almost warm enough to melt the rest of the snow outside, just about. Granted most of the snow had already melted anyway, so I should just be happy about that.
