Update on what's been going on with me from April to June of 2014

Okay, so for the month of April, I know I've really been pretty fixated on the British Boy Band, 5ive, and the fact that one of the guys from the group, has AS, like I do, who by the way was always one of my favorite guys from the group, even before finding that out, this year. I also had written a fan letter to the guys from Five, and one of their most loyal fans read my fan letter in the group for people who like the group. When she got a hold of me, she let me know she was going to be seeing the guys from Five again, real soon, and if I was at all interested she could print off copies of my fan letter to give to them. So I thought that was great, and told her that of course she could! And she did just that, and let me know that the guys were very happy to get a letter from someone in the USA. And another thing I did in the first week of April was I went to spend a week with my boyfriend in his new apartment in Phillips, WI, since he has a job out there, now. And on the way home from staying up there, him and I stopped over to see an old friend of mine from high school, who lives out in Junction City.
And for the Easter weekend, some of my friends and I from the autism support groups I've been going to all got together, and we colored eggs for Easter, as well as had some refreshments too.
And the eggs we colored came out looking pretty good, too. ;)
Anyways, I will point out that my cuddle bear, Jason, and I love to spoil each other for Easter, so we each gave each other some Easter Baskets.
I also would like to add that it was a really nice day for Easter. Temperatures were in the mid 70's, for Easter Sunday, this year, so it definitely felt like a day of summer, which felt really good. ;)

For the last week of April, I decided to go on autism Panel at the Wisconsin Dells, to talk with other people, publicly about my experiences with my disability. And I was the oldest person on panel. The other 3 people were 16, 19, and 21. It was the 21 year old girl's first time to ever speak publicly about her experiences, too. But the teenage boys who were on panel, had done many public speakings before the day that I went on panel with them. Originally I wanted to go on panel, because then I'd have an excuse to get out of the house, and meet new people. But after my first panel, and hearing other people's feedback on how I did such a good job talking about my experiences, and articulating it, and how even though some of it may have been hard to talk about about, they said it was very brave of me to talk about it, and they thanked me for sharing it. There were people in the audience who were even saying that it was the best panel they've ever seen, and if people thought I did such a good job, then maybe I should continue doing more public speakings on panel about my experiences. Because it would be a real shame if I did such a good job in April, and then never did it again. And I think my experience of speaking publicly about my disorder has given me a better idea of what I might want to do. I think now, I might want to become more active in the autism community, and talk publicly about my experiences, and I hope it all works out. I knew I've always wanted to do something that could help out people in the autism community of some sort, but couldn't figure out what. And I think after going on panel, I figure if sharing my experiences is going to help people so they don't make the same mistakes with younger generations of kids on the spectrum, that they made with me, than I'm all for talking about my experiences.
I know lately, I've also been very active in the group for people who are fans of the British Boy Band, Five. And when some fans wanted to make a slideshow letting the guys know what their music meant to them, I decided to contribute the very slideshow. And some of the fans also have been working on making birthday slideshows for the guys from 5ive, since their birthdays were coming up in the late spring and summer seasons, and one of them's birthday isn't until a lot later in the year. As a matter of fact, one of them has the same birthday as I do.So, I thought that's cool, and I kind of already know what I'd like to say to him, when the time comes. For Cinco De Mayo, I really didn't have anyone to celebrate it with, so I ate out at Taco Bell, which I know is kinda lame. Oh well. And for Mother's Day this year, I made my mom a very special DVD for her, for mother's Day, looking back on 30 years of being our mom. I also got her a funny t-shirt, and I bought her Mary Poppins, on DVD, because I know she liked that movie a lot. And she said not to give her any chocolate for Mother's Day, so I didn't get her any chocolate. I did however get her some Twizzlers Pull N' Peel, because I know she likes Twizzlers candy. So hopefully at least that made one mouth happy. LOL!

While my dad was gone for a whole week before the Memorial Weekend, I finally got up the guts to take myself out to the movies, and finally got around to seeing the movie, "The Other Woman", starring Cameron Diaz, and Leslie Mann. The movie may have started out a little boring, but it kept getting better and better, as it went. It kind of reminded me of my relationship with my friend, Jeremae and I, after her now ex, split, and how it some how brought us closer together. And then for the Memorial Day weekend, Jason and I went to the Chocolate City Festival in Burlington, WI.

While we were there, we tried different types of chocolates from different parts of the world, in the Chocolate experience tent. We also checked out this petting zoo they had there. The puppies running around in there were really cute. But they also had farm animals in there too. And we also watched a lumber jack competition. I figured Jason would get a kick out of it, too.

In the month of June, for father's Day weekend, I actually ended up going and hanging out at the Carnival with some people, at Field Park where I live, twice. I went on Saturday afternoon and hung out a little bit with my boyfriend, Jason's friend, Adam, his girlfriend, Heather, and his kids. Then I went again, the next day and went on a bunch of rides with my friend, Jack from the support group meeting, although I probably went on rides more than Jack did.
Anyways, for the following week afterwards, I ended up doing volunteer work at Lakeland school, where kids with special needs go to biker's camp, which is also partially run by the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin, in Wauwatosa. And it's really nice to watch kids with special needs want to get up on a bike, and they want to learn how to ride, and just seeing how much improvement they've made from over the course of the week, is just incredible and rewarding. And to see so much improvement, I guess I must be doing something right. I also saw someone at the bike training camp  who works for the autism society who wanted to know if I wanted to go on another panel, again. So of course, I would like to, but it won't be until May of the next year. And at the end of the week, a newspaper reporter came to the school and wanted to get a picture of the people involved at the camp. The riders, and the volunteers who were involved, that is. And I got to take home pictures of myself where I was helping the kids with riding a bike, since I work 2 shifts.

These are the kids I helped out with other volunteers. They made so much progress from the beginning to the end of the week. I just hope they continue to keep riding, no matter how hard it is, and as they keep riding, it keeps getting easier and easier for them to pull it off.
