my fan letter to Five
Ok, so in one of my earlier blogs, I said that if there were 2 other famous people that I wanted to meet in person one day who had Asperger's Syndrome, it would be Heather from America's Next Top Model, Cycle 9, and Abz, from the boy band, Five. And the problem with me getting a hold of them was that they didn't even know I'm alive. Well, now one of them does, hopefully after last night and tonight. The thing is, after watching videos of them on youtube from last year and finding out what I did about the guys from Five, I did end up writing a letter to the guys from Five, who are still very much in the boy band letting them know that I liked their music, they had some great music, and that they deserve to be so much more than a one hit wonder here, in the USA. And I hope they can make a successful come back here in the USA, someday. In some of this fan letter, I also was talking to Abz about his having Asperger's Syndrome, and letting him know that I have it too, and that it doesn't change the way I look at him at all. Instead it just gives me another reason to say that he's my favorite guy from the boy band, because that's something I can identify with and relate to.
Anyways, after writing them a fan letter and sticking it in my notes on facebook, I did end up joining a group on facebook for people who liked the British Boy Band, Five, and still do. After I joined that group, I decided to post my fan letter in the group, because I wanted to know what their fans thought of my fan letter to the guys. I definitely got some good responses from it. A couple of girls did end up contacting me in response to my fan letter, letting me know that they were going to a concert they were having some where in the UK or one of the European countries, and that if I was interested, they could always print off copies of my fan letter to give to the guys in the band, Five. When one of these girls told me that, I was like, "Yes! Of course you can print them off and give them to the guys from Five!" So anyways, she did just that.
And today the same person contacted me to let me know that last night she gave the guys the copies of my fan letters. And according to her, they were happy to get fan letters from someone from the USA.
Here's what she said:
Mission complete. Boys got the letters last night. They were happy to hear its from the USA xx
I hope they liked what I had to say, and that they don't think it was a little creepy that I had to find out what they had been up to, all these years, through watching videos of them on youtube. I hope that I made them feel good in that letter, and that I was just complimenting them on their music, as well as encouraging them to make a come back. I also hope that Abz especially finds what I had to say to him about having Asperger's Syndrome, comforting, because I'm just letting him know he's still one of my favorite guys in the band, and I think that what he's been able to accomplish in life is amazing, considering what he has for a disability, and that he doesn't let it define who he is as a person today. Back in the day, I used to think he was so cute. Although he almost doesn't look anything like what he did, 15 years ago, he's still looking good. At least he didn't gain a whole ass load of weight. Again, I hope they like the letter I wrote them, and maybe they'll even want to get back to me, thanking me for writing what I did.
