Dental issues
Well, this all started this last fall in 2022. I noticed if I ate something sweet, the bottom left side of my mouth would feel sore and irritated. So I started making sure I was taking better care of my teeth. Eventually, the soreness in the bottom half of my mouth went away. But then it moved into the upper half of my mouth. I think it's when they had tootsie rolls at work and when I bit into one, my upper left molar was in a lot of physical pain. So after I'd brush my teeth, I'd also use mouth wash and then oral gel to get rid of the pain. Eventually the pain on that side of my mouth did go away as well, but then it came back on the right side of my mouth. Had to use oral gel after brushing my teeth and using the mouth wash as well. Then during the Christmas season, my mouth was no longer in any pain. And I thought that would be a thing of the past.
Unfortunately, I was wrong because in January this year, I had some egg rolls and some sauce to dip it in for dinner one night. As soon as I bit into one of those egg rolls after dipping it in sauce, all the pain just came searing right through my upper left molar. And then I was back to using the oral gel. And sometimes the oral gel didn't always work. If I was lucky, the pain would go away, but it would still be throbbing. So, finally in February, when my tooth and gums had been in so much pain on and off for a while, I finally ended up texting my mom letting her know that I think I might have an infected cavity filling in one of my teeth, and that the left side of my face is starting to swell because of it. Luckily, she told me she would call the dentist and have me come in the next day. She said they said it sounded like I might have an abscess in my mouth. So the next day, she calls to have me be ready to go to the dentist's office, and the left side looks so swollen, I thought I looked like I got beat up. As soon as they did an x-ray on that one tooth that had been in so much pain, they said there was no way they could do a root canal on it because it was so bad. It was going to have to be pulled. Then one of the next things they did was talk to me about what my options were after having my tooth pulled. It was either get a partial denture, get a bridge, or have a dental implant put in. We agreed the dental implant was the best option. Also, they had me get put on antibiotics immediately, and told me to see an oral surgeon ASAP, because it was an emergency. So after that visit, I pick up the antibiotics for my infection, start taking it immediately. I'm just glad my mom wasn't too mad at me over this issue, because I remember hearing she had gotten a dental implant put in a while ago, too.
So I get a call later that evening letting me know that I'll be going into the oral surgeon's office the next morning to have the operation done. So I had to go into Waukesha to have it done. When I first got there, I was just crying there, because I was scared. Even though they ended up numbing the inside of my mouth I was still in pain. When they finally got it out of there, I was crying. I never wanted it to come down to this. Fortunately, the antibiotics have since kicked in and I'm done with them. They also found I had an abscess in my mouth, that they drained, as well. Anyway, after what they put me through, I figured that if I were to come into the dentist's office for a regular cleaning, they can just take my last wisdom tooth that I had come in 14 years earlier. Anyways, I end up going to get my teeth cleaned in April, and sure enough what does the dentist say? That my last wisdom tooth is starting to rot in my mouth and will also need to be pulled which is fine. They said I wasn't going to need it. So then, this Thursday morning, I'm supposed to go in to get the implant put in.
