Funky Poets

So, when I was in maybe 5th grade, I remember getting the movie soundtrack Free Willy for Christmas since I liked that movie when I was 10. Anyway, one of the songs on the soundtrack was performed by an R&B/hip hop band called Funky Poets. And I do remember listening to the song on soundtrack and I guess I always wondered what the guys from that group looked like. I thought when hearing them singing that song, "How Can You Leave Me Now", I thought one of the guys sounded kinda cute. So out of curiousity, I looked them up on the internet and on youtube, just to see what they looked like. It's too bad that they didn't get more recognition in the music business than what they did. They don't even have anything about them on Wikipedia. Anyway, when I looked them up on youtube, they don't have a music video for their song off that movie soundtrack. They do however have a couple of music videos by them on there, though. The one music video I like by them is "Born in the Ghetto" because you can kinda see who in the group sings what. I have to say, I thought a lot of those guys in the video were pretty good looking for being African American guys back in the day. But if they were in their 20's back then, they'd be in their 50's by now.

I can't help but think one of the guys in the music video kinda looks like my late former boyfriend's late friend, Adam Tritz, just the way his face is shaped. He basically kinda looks like what Adam would look like if Adam was a person of color. I think it's also just the style of music and the way the guys are dressed in the music video that reminds me of Jason's late friend, Adam, who unfortunately ODed from Fentanyl and heroin back in 2016. Seeing this music video by Funky Poets just makes me wish that both Jason and Adam Tritz were still here. I know I'd watch the music video on youtube when Jason was still here, but was never able to have him watch it with me and tell him this, but wish I had been able to while he was still here. Now that they're gone, seeing this video makes me wish they were still here today. But at the same time,  I know what Jason would say about that. He'd say that his friend would hate that, because he was supposedly racist. What I don't understand is how can you like rap music and be racist? That makes absolutely no sense to me.

Again, this reminds me of Jason's friend, Adam Tritz, just because something about either the genre, or how the guys are dressed in the video, and how one of the members look just reminds me of Jason's late friend Adam, Tritz. RIP 1983-2016
